SARPOL RP08

Anti-wear and shock-resistant paste resin

SARPOL RP08 is a two-component epoxy paste, rubber-modified and ceramic-filled, combining abrasion resistance and impact resistance. It is designed to protect, rebuild, and repair high-wear areas of equipment and machinery. The product guarantees:

  • Impact resistance and protection of metal surfaces from abrasive agents
  • Refurbishment and repair of worn metal parts
  • Excellent abrasion resistance thanks to the ceramic filler
  • for use on vertical and ceiling surfaces without dripping

The product typically operates in a temperature range of -30 °C to +120 °C. Typical applications include:

  • Flow deflectors
  • truckloads
  • Curves and slides
  • tramogge
  • Plant and machinery exposed to abrasion and impact

GENERAL INFORMATION

This product is not recommended for use in oxygen-rich and/or pure oxygen systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

For information on the safe handling of this product, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical for the long-term performance of this product. Exact requirements vary based on the severity of the application, anticipated service life, and the initial conditions of the substrate.

  1. All welds and weld spatter must be ground flush. Blast all surfaces to be coated with angular grit to a profile of 50-70 microns and a near-white metal cleaning degree (SIS SA 2½ /SSPC-SP 10).
  2. After sandblasting, metal surfaces must be cleaned and coated before any oxidation.
  3. For vertical or ceiling applications, the application of expanded metal mesh is recommended.

Method of Application

  1. Film thickness per layer: minimum 6 mm.
  2. Apply the material to the prepared surface by first forcing a thin layer deep into the consistency of the substrate.
  3. Immediately thereafter, build up to the required finished thickness.
  4. At 25°C, the working time is 30 minutes. Functional hardening (handling) in 6 hours.

Check:

  • Visually inspect for holes and voids immediately after application.
  • Once the coating has cured, repeat the visual inspection to confirm the absence of holes, voids, or damaged areas.
  • Coating thickness control, especially in critical areas.

Caution: Use an approved positive pressure air respirator when welding or cutting near the cured compound. Do not use open flames on the compound.

Repairs

Any voids, holes, or thin areas found in the coating can be repaired by lightly abrading, cleaning the area, and applying additional product.

Cleaning

Immediately after use, tools must be cleaned with a suitable detergent, e.g., a solvent such as acetone or isopropyl alcohol. Once hardened, the material can only be removed mechanically.
